Why Join the 5 Pin Association?

Every year we are asked this question...Following is a list of some of the reasons why every bowler should belong to the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers Association.

By purchasing a membership in the  Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers Association you are joining one of the most organized and respected amateur sport organizations in all of Canada.

Did you know that...

1. The C5PBA and it's affiliates are the bowling groups recognized by the Federal and Provincial governments as the "Sport Governing Bodies" for 5 pin bowling.  This is important when applying to all levels of government for funding assistance.

2. That this is the group responsible for development and monitoring the "Rules and Regulations" of the sport of 5 pin bowling.

3. That the 5 Pin Association is responsible for the setting and monitoring of the "Standards and Specifications" for the sport. Think about it... without the 5 Pin  there is no Association responsible to see that all bowling lanes and equipment meet agreed upon standards and specifications.

4. Through it's affiliate, Master Bowlers Association, the 5 Pin Association is responsible for the "Technical" aspects of the sport...i.e. "Instruction and Coaching". Without the 5 Pin Association bowling would not be part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) ...therefore once again an area of the sport would go without governing funding.

5. This "Technical area" is one of the "Milestones" by which you are recognized by other sports. Without the 5 Pin Association, bowlers are just people throwing balls at pins. With the 5 Pin Association the game is considered a "Sport".

6. The Alberta Association is made up of bowlers like yourselves who work strictly as volunteers providing in excess of ten thousand (10,000) hours of "volunteer time" to bowling in Alberta every year.

7. As a member of the 5 Pin Association you have a voice in your sport. Through a democratic process... you get to choose who represents you in the dealings of the sport...you can initiate and make changes happen in such things as "rules and specifications". Example: It was a single member of the Alberta Association who initiated the introduction of personal bowling balls to the sport of 5 pin all across Canada just a few years ago.

8. The Association is a vital "Corporate Citizen" and is involved in such worthwhile ventures as charitable fund-raising Re: "Kids Help Phone". Did you know that Alberta has donated in excess of $8590.00 to this vital charity for the 2003 season.

It is an Association...of bowlers...working with & for bowlers'... for the betterment of the sport of 5 Pin Bowling.

The above are just a few of the many reasons why each and every bowler should be a member of the "Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers Association" . In addition the Association offers a wide  and varied number of programs and competitions for all levels of bowlers.

Be sure to ask your local 5 Pin Association for details on how you can be an active part of the sport!
